Ladakh Tour Packages — High Passes, Monasteries & Pangong Lake
Land of high passes
About Ladakh
High-altitude deserts, monasteries and mountain passes.
Ladakh is a high-altitude desert where monasteries cling to cliffs, prayer flags snap over 5,000 m passes and Pangong Tso shifts colour through the day. Palyatra's Ladakh tour packages build in proper acclimatisation in Leh, handle the inner-line permits for Nubra and Pangong, and include stays from Leh guesthouses to Nubra camps, with private SUVs suited to the terrain.
Best time to visit: May to September is the only practical window — roads and passes (Khardung La, Chang La) are open, days are mild and nights are cold. Pangong freezes partially even in summer. From October the passes close and Ladakh shifts to winter-only fly-in itineraries (Chadar trek in Jan–Feb, a separate speciality trip).
Top experiences: acclimatisation walks around Leh and Shanti Stupa, the monasteries of Hemis, Thiksey and Diskit, a camel ride on the Nubra sand dunes, driving Khardung La (one of the world's highest motorable passes) and the colour-changing Pangong Lake.
Frequently asked questions: Is altitude sickness a risk? Yes — the first two nights in Leh must be for rest (no strenuous activity), and we keep Nubra/Pangong for after acclimatisation. Are permits included? Yes, inner-line permits for Nubra, Pangong and the passes are arranged. Can I fly directly? Yes, flights to Leh run from Delhi, Mumbai and Srinagar; the Manali–Leh road is a separate scenic extension (June–September only).
